A z-table, sometimes called a z-score table or standard normal table, is a table showing the percentage of values in a standard normal distribution to the left of a z-score.

You can also use the values in a z-table to find the values to the right of the z-score by subtracting the table value from 1.

A z-table is useful to find the probability that a value will fall above or below a z-score in a standard normal distribution, also referred to as the p-value.

How to Use a Z-Table

A z table can be used to find the percentage of values to the left of the z-score with a precision of 2 decimal places.

To use the z table, locate the whole number and the first decimal place of the z-score on the left column of the z table. Then, locate the second decimal place along the top row of the z table.

The percentage of values to the left of the z-score is the intersection of the row and column in the table.
