Picofarad Definition and Usage

The picofarad is 1/1,000,000,000,000 of a farad, which is the capacitance of a capacitor with a potential difference of one volt when it is charged by one coulomb of electricity.

The picofarad is a multiple of the farad, which is the SI derived unit for capacitance. In the metric system, "pico" is the prefix for 10-12. Picofarads can be abbreviated as pF, for example 1 picofarad can be written as 1 pF.
